Some stove sounds are normal.
Some stove sounds are normal. A new noise needs to be matched to its source and cooking mode before choosing a repair.
Tell us whether the noise comes from the burners, oven or hood. Note any change in heating and describe the sound.
Stop for arcing, smoke, burning or gas smell. Do not remove panels to listen beside live parts; leave and call outside if you smell gas.
We compare the sound with normal operation for the exact model, then check the relevant ignition, heating, fan or other system.
Tell the technician whether the sound occurred at a burner, during oven heating or while a fan was running. Include whether the appliance is gas or electric. Clicking, rattling and electrical buzzing are different observations; stop use where noise accompanies gas odour, smoke or sparking.
Send the full model number, the symptom and any displayed code when you request a visit. The $49 service call is applied toward the repair; confirm the full quote before authorizing work. See the repair cost guide for questions to ask.
If you smell gas: leave the building immediately. Do not operate lights, switches or appliances. From outside, call ATCO at 1-800-511-3447 or 911. Do not re-enter until it is declared safe.
